Agnes Marie (Miceli) Downey

Agnes Marie (Miceli) Downey, age 88, passed away on March 5th, 2022 at the Arbors Assisted Living at Stoughton. Born in Boston, she was the daughter to the late John and Lillian (Collins) Miceli. She was the beloved wife to the late James E. Downey. They got married in October of 1952 and were married for 44 loving years before his untimely passing. She graduated from Roxbury Highschool, Class of 1948. She went to work for Boston City Hospital as an Administrative Assistant for many years before retiring in 1994. Agnes was always busy doing something – she absolutely loved crafting and sewed clothes for her children to wear as they grew up. She enjoyed the casino and playing slots and bingo in her spare time. She was an avid reader with a full mind of knowledge. She also loved to bake, decorate cakes and roller-skate. She was also a member of the Stoughton Senior Center for many years.

Agnes is survived by her children Deborah A. Crisileo of Middleboro, James E. Downey, Jr. of Brockton, Denise L. Bucaria and her husband Eric of Stoughton, Maureen A. Benjamin and her husband Walter of Taunton, Shawn J. Downey of Orient, Maine and Anthony P. Downey of Stoughton. She was predeceased by her siblings John Miceli, Paul Miceli and Lillian Curly. She is also survived by her 10 beloved grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the best aunt "Chickie", godmother, sister-in-law and friend to those who had the honor of knowing her in this life. She will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27) Stoughton, on Wednesday March 9th from 9-11 AM, followed by Funeral Prayers at 11:00. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
