Agnes A. Hawkins, age 93, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 31, 1932, in Boston, to Angus MacLellan and Mary Ross MacLellan. After the loss of her birth mother at just 18 months old, she was lovingly raised by her mother, Margaret MacLellan. Agnes grew up in Randolph, where she lived for 70 years before moving to Stoughton in 2002. Graduating from Stetson High School in 1949, she went on to build a life defined by dedication, curiosity, and kindness. On May 29, 1954, Agnes married Joshua “Arthur” Hawkins in Randolph. They shared 22 years of marriage until his passing in 1976. She worked for the New England Telephone Company, now known as Verizon, for 28 years. Beginning her career as a switchboard operator, she advanced to public relations management in Boston before retiring. In her retirement, Agnes enjoyed traveling the world with her sister, and trips to Canada with her cousins, daughter and granddaughter. She had a deep love for sewing, knitting, gardening, genealogy research, bird watching and such a love for animals. Agnes was a longtime member of the Milton Women’s Club and later the Randolph Women’s Club. Known for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and kind heart, she touched everyone she met and treasured every moment spent with her family.
Agnes is survived by her daughter, Lisa Zampine, and her husband Paul of Stoughton, and was preceded in death by her daughter Teresa Hawkins and her son Arthur Hawkins; her grandchildren Ashley Russo, Valerie Moitoza and her husband Michael, Nicole Hawkins, Paul Zampine Jr. and his fiancé Jamie Leone, Angelina Zampine, and was predeceased by her grandson Steven; and her great-grandchildren Aiden, Gianna, Michael, Vera, and Mira. She is also survived by her sister Mary “Dolly” VanDoren of Brea, California, her brother Daniel “Danny” MacLellan and his and his wife Louise of Lake Forest, California, and leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Isabel.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, aides, doctors, and staff at Alliance at West Acres in Brockton for their compassionate care. Special thanks are given to her devoted caretaker, Nidia – whom Agnes lovingly referred to as “her Angel” – for caring for her as if she were her own mother. Nidia and Station 3 provided comfort, kindness, and unwavering support during the past year, all of which the family is deeply grateful.
