Andrew S. Andersen, 81, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Canton, after a long period of declining health. Born in Boston, son of the late Andrew E. Andersen and Madelyn (Sullivan) Leahy, he was raised and educated in Canton and was a graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1961. In 1967, he married Kathleen A. Daly at St. Peter’s Church in Dorchester, and together they spent over 58 years together and raised their 4 beloved children. Andy served in the Marine Corps Reserve.

Andy was a longtime member of Local 17 Sheet Metal Workers Union and employee of Quality Air Metals in Holbrook for many years, retiring in 2003. Every summer he looked forward to his family vacation in Dennisport and, after his retirement, Andy and Kathy enjoyed spending their winters in Key West, walking the beach and collecting sea glass. He was a longtime parishioner of St. James Church in Stoughton and a longtime member of Canton Men’s Softball League. In his free time, enjoyed playing tennis and being a loving “Neep” to his 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Kathleen A. (Daly) Andersen of Canton, he is survived by his children, Kristen M. Gunning and her companion Christopher Bones Linehan of Canton, Andrew S. Andersen and his wife Emily of Humarock, Kathleen A. Rooney and her husband Steven of Mansfield and Lauren M. Staruski of Foxboro. He was the beloved “Neep” of Brendan, Shane and Owen Gunning, Paul Andersen and his fiancé Erica Ruscio, John Andersen, Kasey Andersen and her fiancé John Donovan, Emma, Andrew, Declan and Tess Rooney and Kathleen, Riley and Lila Staruski. Andy was the brother of Karen White of Canton, Robert Leahy, Gary Andersen, Alan Andersen and Lori Fogarty, all of FL. He was the brother-in-law of Ellen Pierce, Nancy Quinn and Marie Walsh. In addition to his parents, Andy was predeceased by his son-in-law Thomas Gunning. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Mia and Chloe Donovan and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations in Andy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Alzheimer’s Association of MA, 320 Nevada St., Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460.
