Anthony Sousa, 73, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria C. Sousa for 53 years. Son of the late Antonio S. and Maria R. (Cabral) DeSousa, he was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton 64 years ago. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Tony was a welder at Quincy Shipyard for 25 years and also a car salesman at Huggard & Ewing in Stoughton for several years before retiring in 2011. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and was very active with the Our Lady of Fatima Feast at the church. He enjoyed gardening and fixing things around his house but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and dear friends.
In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his children, Steve Sousa and his wife Alicia of Middleboro and Stella M. Billadeau and her husband Jason of Brockton as well as his grandchildren, Jeremy Billadeau, Olivia Billadeau, Karina Sousa and Damian Sousa. He was the brother of Daniel DeSousa and his wife June of Melbourne, FL and is also survived by 4 nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, September 14 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
