Antonio Ferreira, 84, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton after a period of declining health on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Maria Luisa (Vieira) Ferreira for the past 54 years. He was born and raised in Lajes on the island of Flores in the Azores, Portugal. Antonio came to the United States and settled in Stoughton in 1972. He was a machine operator for Avon Custom Mixing for many years. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Society of the Azores and the Holy Ghost of Camoes. He enjoyed gardening, quahogging and spending time at his home in Buzzards Bay but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
In addition to his wife, Antonio is survived by his children, Paulo A. Ferreira and his wife Cheri and Melissa P. Viana and her husband Gilly all of Stoughton as well as his grandchildren, Vanessa Braconi and her husband Barry and Zachary Ferreira all of Rehoboth and Jacob Ferreira and Ava Viana both of Stoughton, and his great-grandson, Wyatt Braconi. He was the brother of the late Maria Celina Freitas, Teresa Duarte, Maria R. Escobar and Luis Ferreira. He was the son-in-law of Clara Vieira of Stoughton and brother-in-law of Jose Vieira and his wife Anita of Stoughton, Goretti Rainer and her partner Richie Berio of New Hampshire and the late Tony Vieira and his surviving wife Annette of Stoughton. He is also survived by his godchildren, Fernando Freitas, Peter Ferreira and Aurelia Oliveira as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, August 10 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, August 11 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Antonio‘s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
