Antonio D. Martins

Antonio D. Martins, 87, died Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the home of his daughter in Mashpee, after a period of declining health, under the care of Beacon Hospice. Born, raised and educated in Fajanzinha on the island of Flores in the Azores of Portugal, he was the husband of 65 years of Maria J. (Vieira) Martins. In 1966, along with his wife and young family, he came to the United States and settled in Stoughton, where he lived for many years. Over 25 years ago, he retired to Port Charlotte, FL. Antonio was a longtime dedicated employee of the Raytheon Corporation in both Norwood and Quincy and retired at age 59. He was a member of Club Luis de Camoes in Stoughton and was very active with the Our Lady of Fatima Feast at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton for several years. He was a dedicated and accomplished gardener who, while in Florida, helped friends and family plant and cultivate their vegetables and citrus trees. He enjoyed spending time with friends at beach parties at Englewood Beach in Port Charlotte and loved spending time with his family.

Antonio is survived by his devoted wife Maria J. Martins and his two daughters, Victoria M. Manning and her husband Stephen A. Manning of Mashpee, and Ruth M. Jones and her husband William D. Jones of Wrentham. He was the brother of Helder Martins and Maria Eduardo, both of Stoughton and the late Jose Martins, and is also survived by four grandchildren, Lee, Jason, Alex, and Zachary and, two great grandchildren Nina and Jaelynn and his beloved dog and best friend Buddy.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Antonio's name may be made to Beacon Hospice, 68 Center St., Hyannis, MA 02601.
