Barbara M. (Briggs) Donchess, 82, died at home in Canton on Monday, August 1 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Kalman Donchess. Born in New Bedford, Mrs. Donchess was educated in New Bedford Schools and Kinyon Business School. She was a resident of Canton since 1958. Mrs. Donchess was a freelance writer and her articles were found in astrology magazines, the Boston Herald, Writer's Digest and the National Enquirer. She was also the author of four books, including "No Stairs to Climb in London" which was a guide for the mobility impaired. In 1985 her biographical data was listed in "Who's Who in America."
Mrs. Donchess is survived by her children, Carleton Donchess of Middleboro, Ann Donchess of Weymouth and Christine Studley and her husband Robert of E. Bridgewater, as well as her granddaughter, Merilyn Studley.
