Barbara A. (Sweet) Moses, 98, died Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Lifecare Center of Raynham, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Moses. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Francis A. and Anna L. (Flaherty) Sweet, she was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and St. Patrick’s High School in Brockton. She was a longtime resident of Brockton. Barbara worked as a secretary at Merkert Enterprises in Canton for many years, retiring in 1998, and previously worked at Quinn Freight Lines for several years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Avon. In her free time, Barbara loved being surrounded by her beloved family.
Barbara was the mother of Kathleen M. Taylor and her husband the late Dennis Taylor of Raynham, Robert E. Moses, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Plymouth and Edward F. Moses and his wife Megan of FL. She was the beloved grandmother of Gregory Williams, Erin Taylor, Kelly Moses, Kristin Reynolds, John Moses and the late Matthew Moses. Barbara was the loving “Gigi” of Tristan Santiago-Moses, Mackenna, Annie and Declan Williams, Morgan Poole and Charles Reynolds. She was the devoted sister of Francis A. Sweet of Quincy, Roger J. Sweet of Bridgewater and the late Mary L. Parrish, Shirley DiCorpo, Dorothy Sweet, Charles Sweet, Robert D. Sweet and Eleanor Sarrey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, 87 N. Main St., Avon, at 11AM. Donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to HOPE House of Possibilities, 350 Washington St., Easton, MA 02356, to the Leukemia Society, Blood Cancer United, POB 22324, New York, NY 10087 or to the charity of your choice.
