Beverly A. (Tate) Costa

Beverly A. (Tate) Costa, 95, a longtime resident of Assonet, died peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River on Sunday, October 19, 2025. She was the wife of the late Leo A. Costa. Daughter of the late Harold F.C. and Eulaila (Leathers) Tate, she was born and raised in Stoughton. Beverly was a Class of 1948 graduate of Stoughton High School. She resided in Assonet for 62 years. Beverly was a bank teller at Stoughton Cooperative Bank and Canton Cooperative Bank for several years before becoming a professional hairdresser. She worked at various locations in Fall River, Brockton and Easton for over 30 years before retiring in 1993. She loved playing the organ and piano, writing music and cut a record years ago. She also enjoyed crocheting, refurbishing furniture to look antique, boating and waterskiing. Her greatest love and enjoyment was spending time with her beloved family and she was her children’s biggest fan and protector, the glue that held the family all together.

Beverly is survived by her children, Harold F. Costa and his partner Priscilla Hutchinson of Assonet, Merelyn L. Gallagher and her husband Bernard of Leominster and Elizabeth A. St. Ours and her husband Roger of Tiverton, RI. She was the grandmother of Michael Costa, Peter Costa, Stacy Boumenot and her husband Christopher, Katelyn St. Ours and the late Jeremy Costa and great-grandmother of Colin, Ewan, Persephone and Chase Boumenot. She was the sister of the late Merelyn Schwartz and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Friday, October 24 from 10:30-11:30 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11:30 AM. Interment will be private at a later date.
