Carol A. Altonen, 79, a resident of Bridgewater, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Daughter of the late Eino and Lillian R. (Hohmann) Altonen, she was born in Boston and raised in Stoughton. Carol graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1960, earned her Bachelor's Degree from Boston College and her Master's Degree for Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Northeastern University. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton before moving to Bridgewater 25 years ago. Carol was a pediatric nurse practitioner at both Goddard Medical Associates in Brockton and the South Shore VNA in Weymouth for over 40 years before retiring in 2013. She loved helping the many children she cared for over the years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her children, Christopher J. Marshall and his wife Amy of Plymouth, Nancy B. Marshall of Bridgewater, Brian N. Marshall, Canton FD and his wife Susan of Canton and Julie E. Andersen and her husband Anthony of Aurora, CO. She was the beloved grandmother of Connor, Shane, Emmakate, Clare, Marc, Camille and Audrey. She was the sister of Barbara DeLuca and her husband Albert "Duke" of Milton and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, January 3 from 9-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, 1661 Worcester Road, Framingham, MA 01701.
