Obituary

Carol Ann Ornellas, age 79, passed away at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on August 18, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Ornellas who passed away in 2021. Born in Brockton, Ma., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Medeiros and Florance Charnecke. For more than 50 years, she dedicated herself to her career as a hairdresser and spent time working in a jewelry store for many years. An avid sports fan, she rarely missed watching the New England Patriots on Sundays and cheering on the Boston Red Sox. She and her husband John, shared a love of travel and adventure, visiting many countries around the world as well as beautiful destinations throughout the United States. They especially cherished their time in Washington, D.C., Disney World, and Martha’s Vineyard. Carol and John also enjoyed golfing together and spending time outdoors. She especially loved the beach, the sunshine, being outside and was very patriotic. Staying active and healthy was an important part of her life, and Carol was always committed to fitness and would often spend two hours a day exercising. She will be greatly missed.

Carol is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Jutras, her nieces Elizabeth Jutras of Maryland, Roberta Jutras of California, and Janice Lynch of Hanson as well as 7 great nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends, Rosemary and Dan Webb, and their daughter Michele Nawazelski and her family, and had a special place in her heart for her furry companion Pudge.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 26th at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America at https://secure.pva.org/.
