Carol A. Savino, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 11, 2025. Daughter of the late Angelo and Ethel (Rogers) Savino, she was born in Brockton, raised in Canton and Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1962. While at Stoughton High School, she excelled in sports on the Field Hockey and Basketball teams but her real love of sport was Softball. Carol worked as a waitress at Friendly’s in Bridgewater for many years and also worked at the South Shore Hospital in the Cafeteria for several years. Carol’s main passion was coaching and teaching softball. She was a well-respected member of the local and national softball coaching circles. Locally, she began coaching for Stoyac in Stoughton and that grew to a career that included coaching at Norwood and Duxbury High Schools and at Bridgewater State College, among others. Nationally, she was known with the Mass Drifters Club Softball Team, a team she founded and coached for over 50 years. Carol’s focus was to teach the game at a high level as well as to provide opportunities to young student athletes to continue playing at the college level. She was involved in the organization of several recruiting showcases in the area and strove to provide the connections between student athletes and coaches that led to many girls to attend the school of their dreams. Carol gave her heart and soul to the Mass Drifters and to coaching young girls and developed bonds with her athletes and their families that lasted for years.
A devout Catholic, she was devoted to her family and loved her time surrounded by her siblings, nieces, nephews and their children. She loved saying “HELLO” to everyone she knew. She also loved ice cream and old Western movies. Her favorite season was Fall because she loved all the changing colors and she absolutely had to have white socks and new sneakers at all times.
Carol was the beloved sister of Lori Dalton and her late husband Raymond of Rockland, Roni Eldayha and her husband Walid of West Bridgewater, with whom she lived for over 30 years, the late Joseph C. Savino and his surviving wife Ann of New Hampshire, formerly of Stoughton, the late Michael J. Savino and his surviving wife Linda of Middleboro and the late Paul Savino. She was the beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by 2 nephews. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
