Catherine Lewis Sandhaus

After a valiant battle with cancer, Cathy went home to God on the morning of July 22, 2020. She was born in Boston and was the loving daughter of Eva (Allen) Lewis of Stoughton and the late John "Gabby" Lewis. She was the beloved mother of Rory McHugh, and "CC" to her grandson Shane. She was the sister of John F. Lewis, Jr. and his wife Yanwu Huang and the late Brian K. Lewis and his wife Joyce and Aunt to Ian Lewis and Kathryn Lewis.

Cathy attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Stoughton High School Class of 1971. She received a Bachelor of Art degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1974. What followed was a long and fulfilling career in fashion design, pattern design and fashion operations within the garment industry for several companies based in New England. Throughout her life she was a recipient of many awards for her artistic renditions and creations and recognized for her expertise in pattern making.

She filled her life with various aspects of art. An amazing talent with abilities in canvas oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, pencil and pen sketch, digital art, portraits, photography, textile design and sculpture. She could knit and crochet beautiful patterns and unique items, and most recently creating prayer shawls for the many residents at local nursing homes. The only limitations she had were things yet dreamed and envisioned. A devoted friend and "St Mary's Fairy," she sustained many lifelong friendships. She traveled extensively throughout her life and attended many concerts and theatrical presentations. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Arrangements will be private. Due to restrictions relating to COVID-19 pandemic, a funeral Mass and celebration of Cathy's life will be held at a later date and will be communicated to family and friends.
