Daniel Joseph Baker, 46, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton on Sunday, July 19, 2026 after a period of failing health. Born in Weymouth, he was the son of Joanne Baker O’Connell of Stoughton and the late James J. Baker. Danny was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1998, where he served as Captain of the Boys Basketball Team his senior year. He also attended Fitchburg State College. He enjoyed coaching youth basketball in the area for many years. He was a devoted father and son who loved watching movies and sports and attending sporting events with his son. Being a father was the defining role of Danny's life.

In addition to his mother, Danny is survived by his son, James W. Baker of Stoughton as well as his siblings, Andrew J. Baker and his wife Sara of East Bridgewater and Joseph P. Berdy-Baker and his wife Brittany of Saugus. He was the uncle of Lucas, Cali and Curtis Baker and Brayden and Zoey Berdy-Baker.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 27 from 4-7 PM. A Graveside Service will be held from Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1100 Central St., Stoughton on Tuesday, July 28 at 11:30 AM.
