David E. Duross, 86, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the AccentCare Hospice Center in Milton, after a long period of declining health. Born in Boston on July 3,1936, Mr. Duross was the son of the late John and Johanna (Donovan) Duross. He was raised and educated in West Roxbury. He was a graduate of Boston College High School in Dorchester. Following his graduation, he joined the US Army and attended Engineering School. In 1959, he married Audrey E. Mahoney and together they shared over 63 years of marriage and raised 4 beloved children. They moved to Stoughton shortly after they married and it has been their home since 1960. He was a member of the National Guard for over 15 years. David worked as an Electronics Engineer for many years, retiring from Altron Incorporated in Wilmington several years ago. Previously, he worked for Adage, Inc. and Honeywell, both located in Boston. After his retirement, he worked as a realtor for Jack Conway Realtors in Canton for over 10 years. David was an accomplished musician and a member of the Phil Bryant Trio for many years, specializing on the trombone and the Bass Guitar. He was also a member of the 215th Army Band. After losing his father at a young age he became a gifted handyman, a skill that benefitted him through his life. As a young man, he was an usher at Fenway Park. He was a longtime Town Meeting Rep in Precinct 8 and was a founding member of the Stoughton Citizens Association. In his free time, he enjoyed camping with his family and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Audrey E. Duross, he is survived by his children, Susan E. Duross and her longtime partner Michael Mayo of Marshfield, Karen A. Duross and her husband Paul Rogers of NH, Kathleen M. Messere and her husband Donald of Attleboro and David E. Duross, Jr and his wife Armanda of FL. He was the loving Papa of Melissa, Nicole and Danielle Messere, Nicholas and Michael Duross and Kevin and Keith Rogers. He was the brother of the late Mary Duross, Eleanora Duross, John Duross, Joseph Duross, William Duross and Charles Duross. He is survived by his niece and two nephews, Lisa, Joseph, and Mark Noseworthy with whom he shared a special bond. He is survived by his great grandson Paxton Messere as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 4-7PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in David’s memory may be made to the AccentCare Hospice, 597 Randolph Ave, Milton, MA 02186.
