David I. Hall

David I. Hall, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday March, 14 2026 after a period of failing health, surrounded by his family. He was loving husband to the late Carol (Paduch) Hall for 60 years.

David was born in Brockton to Everett and Gathry (Haglund) Hall. Raised in Easton he was a 1956 graduate of Oliver Ames High School where he was recognized as shot put champion of The Hockomock League in 1955 and 1956. He was also a member of the Tigers basketball team that went to the state finals at the Boston Garden in 1955 and 1956. After high school he attended Northeastern University where he majored in electrical engineering before working for Westinghouse Elevator and Otis Elevator installing elevators in new building construction. In 1959 David married his wife Carol and in 1963 he moved his family to Stoughton and laid down roots. Once in Stoughton he began working for a company installing fire and burglar alarms. In 1978 he joined the maintenance department at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton where he was foreman for 28 years.

David loved the outdoors. He was a past member of The Middleborough Hare and Rabbit Sportsman Club and the Wampanoag Paddlers, a canoeing club. He was also a member of The Ocean Spray Cooperative for many years while farming a cranberry bog in Stoughton.

In the early 1980’s David and Carol became owners of 80 acres of property on a mountain in Maine. He built a wonderful camp with his two hands that he absolutely loved. He spent many weekends and vacations there enjoying the beauty and solitude of nature and making new lifelong friends.

After retirement David loved traveling in his RV with his wife Carol. They went many times north to Canada and south to Florida especially for Red Sox spring training. They also loved stopping in to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to visit with their niece Heidi Pierce and nephew Andrew Coe.

David was an avid sports fan rooting for all the local teams but he was most passionate about college football and basketball. He enjoyed reading especially western novels, gardening, wood working and building things.

David was father to Karen Duke of Wareham, Keith Hall and his wife Susan of Cataumet, and Robin Hall and her husband David Young of Stoughton. He was grandfather to Randall, Karen, Cory-Jean and Benjamin. He was great grandfather to Genevieve, Robert and Stella. He was brother to the late Nancy (Hall) Coe. He was also Uncle to several more nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed.
