David M. Martins, 32, died Saturday, February 18, 2023 after suffering injuries sustained in a car accident. Born in Macao, China to Jose Varela Martins and Claudette (Macedo) Martins, he was raised in Macao, China and Cascais, Portugal and was a graduate of American High School in Cascais, Portugal, Class of 2010. He came to the United States in 2010 and settled in Quincy. He also lived in Weymouth and Abington before recently buying a house in Whitman. David worked as a Sales Manager at Bernie and Phyl’s Furniture in Braintree for several years. He was a member of the Cape Verdean Community, an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed following the Sporting CP soccer team and the career of Cristiano Ronaldo. An accomplished handyman, he also enjoyed watching tennis, the Celtics, football, and outdoor activities including hiking and bike riding. He loved to travel, explore new challenges and always eager to learn and live. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Jose Varela and Claudette (Macedo) Martins of Portugal, he is survived by his fiancé Amadise Henriques Veiga of Whitman and his brother Ricardo M. Martins of Quincy and Portugal. He was the nephew of Quilda Macedo from Milton, Olavo & Carolyn Macedo of FL, Lucas & Nawal Macedo of Mashpee, Robert and Kathleen Haddad of Attleboro and Melissa Macedo of RI. He was the uncle of Marlon Martins and Lennon Roessel of Germany and the cousin of Justin and Verena Pohl of Raynham, Christopher & Erica Macedo of Leominster, Katelyn Haddad of Randolph, Nicole Macedo of Quincy, Ryan Macedo of NY, Tyler Haddad of Attleboro, Jonathon Madden of PA, Olivia and Greyson Macedo of RI and Vivienne Pohl of Raynham. David is predeceased by his grandparents, Antonio de Medeiros Barbosa and Maria de Fatima Varela Martins of Portugal and Olavo & Maria Adelaide Macedo of Stoughton.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. James Church, Stoughton on Friday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (Claudette's Angel) in honor of David’s mother.
