David Michael Wanders, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was the husband of Annmarie (Pepe) Wanders for 57 years. Son of the late John F. and Hazel L. (McDonough) Wanders, he was born and educated in Boston and raised in Jamaica Plain. David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1960 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman 2nd Class. After serving in the Air Force, he resided in Millis for several years before moving to Stoughton with his new wife in 1968 to start their family. David worked for the MBTA for 25 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Local 589 in Boston. An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed working on and building computers and working around his house and yard but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, David was the father of David M. Wanders Jr. and his wife Linda Myers of Stoughton and the late Dianne M. Wanders and grandfather of Kellyann and Kaitlynn Wanders. He was the brother of Joan Nebreski, Michael Wanders and Sharon Wanders and was preceded in death by his sisters, Claire, Judy and Susan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, September 24 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will take place from the funeral home on Thursday, September 25 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in David‘s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 or www.dana-farber.org.
