Deborah A (DelMonico) Florent

Deborah A. (DelMonico) Florent, 72, died Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, after a long period of declining health.  Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and Rockland and attended Boston Schools.  After leaving high school early to get married, she returned to school after a divorce and earned her GED as a young mother.  She later continued her schooling by earning her degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse, working at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton for many years, retiring several years ago. While working at the VA Hospital in Brockton, she met Steven P. Florent and they later married and spent 47 devoted years together before his death in September.  Deborah was a devout Catholic and former communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and the Chapel of Our Savior in Brockton.  She enjoyed crocheting and shared her talents and her gifts with her family through beautiful blankets and sweaters. As a young woman, she enjoyed nights out dancing with her husband Steve and bowling at Westgate Lanes in Brockton.  She devoted her life to taking care of others. As a nurse, mother, wife, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother or anyone else who needed taken care of, she was right there for them. Taking care of people was her calling.

Deborah was the mother of James F. O’Rourke of RI and MSG Bryan E. O’Rourke, US Army, and his wife MAJ Sarah O'Rourke, US Army of OH and is also survived by her daughter in law Cynthia O’Rourke. She was the loving Noni of Connor, Alec, Meaghan, James, Ashleigh, Koston, Alissa, Annie, Celia, Isla, Helaina, Jason and Harley. She was the great-grandmother of McKenna, Ephraim and her newborn great granddaughter Joy. Deborah is also survived by her loving sister Pamela Ribeiro and her husband Russell and their children (Deborah's nieces) Nicole Ribeiro and Carly Tedeschi all of Brockton.
