Doris E. (Johnson) Bamberg, 96, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Copley at Stoughton on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late Walter H. "Wally" Bamberg for 67 years. Daughter of the late Nils and Elizabeth (Sundin) Johnson, she was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls and Burdett College. Doris was a resident of Stoughton since 1954. She was a civilian secretary of Commander U.S. Counter Intelligence in Nurnberg, Germany during World War II. She was an educational secretary at Stoughton High School for many years before retiring in 1986. She enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling, in particular on 18 cruises. Doris was the mother of the late Walter H. Bamberg, Jr. and Eric Nils Bamberg. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services are private with interment at the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' memory may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
