Dorothy L. (Knell) Dawe

Dorothy L. “Dot” (Knell) Dawe, 95, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center in Norwell, after a period of declining health.  She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Dawe, Jr. the former longtime Principal of the Dawe Elementary School in Stoughton.  Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and also a graduate of secretarial school.  Mrs. Dawe was a resident of Stoughton since 1960.  She was a dedicated homemaker and mother who was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Stoughton.  Dot enjoyed Crescent Ridge Sundaes, Denneno’s Pizza, bird watching and word puzzles.  She was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed doing crafts and, most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends. 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Joseph R. Dawe, III and his wife Kathryn P. Dawe of Duxbury and Bonnie L. Donahue and her husband Michael of FL.  She was the sister of Joan Grecho of Plainville and was the grandmother of Michael Donahue and Kelly Donahue. 

Funeral Service will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM.  Visiting Hours prior to the Service from 9:30-10:30AM Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dot’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
