Dorothy Louise (Hannaway) Hoffman, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. She was the wife of the late Edward C. Hoffman and daughter of the late Harold W. and Emma (Kennedy) Hannaway. Dorothy was born in Boston and raised in Roxbury. After graduating from Burdett College in Boston, she went on to work for the IRS before getting married and raising 5 beautiful sons. Dorothy’s greatest joys were dancing, traveling, spending time with her family, and having “club” with her close female friends. Eventually, she transitioned into the healthcare industry where she worked as an administrative assistant for over 2 decades for Dr. James Tyer of Stoughton and the New England Sinai Hospital, finally retiring in 2010. After living in Stoughton for 60 years, she spent her final years in Easton surrounded by family.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Robert E. Hoffman and his wife Patricia of North Reading, David M. Hoffman and his wife Anne of Stoughton, Steven P. Hoffman and his wife Clorinda of Easton, James P. Hoffman and his wife Bettina of Easton, and Edward D. Hoffman and his wife Christine of Stoughton. She was the grandmother of Tyler, Trevor, Tristan, Nichole, Riordan, Salvatore, Anthony, Caterina, Nicholas, Alexander, Victoria, Luke, Ashley, Amanda and the late James “Jake” Hoffman, and was the great-grandmother of Mia, James, Thomas and Michael. She was the sister of Harold Hannaway of Reading, CT., and the late Richard, Eva, and John Hannaway, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, May 5 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
