Dorothy C. (Patten) Nutter, age 94, passed away peacefully at the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb-Home in Norton on February 12, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert W. Nutter who passed away in 2017. Born and raised in Stoughton she was the daughter of the late Thomas Leo Patten and Dorothy E. (Johnson) Patten, and was educated in the Stoughton Catholic school system. Dorothy was a longtime resident of Brockton, where her and Bob raised their family making many beautiful memories. In 2018, she moved to the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home in Norton, which became her home in her later years. For over 28 years, Dorothy worked as a waitress at the China Bridge Restaurant in Avon and the Maui Restaurant in Brockton. She was a longtime member of the Elks Club in Randolph, where she enjoyed being involved with the community. Above all, she found her greatest joy in caring for her children, spending cherished time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed camping trips with her husband, roller skating, ice skating, country western line dancing and yearly trips to Maine for the Fryeburg Fair.
Dorothy is survived by her children George O. Nutter and his longtime companion Claudia Blondell of ME, Linda C. Gomes and her late husband Bruce of OK, Robert M. Nutter and his wife Rosanne of Plymouth, Gary T. Nutter and his husband Gerry Aguiar of New Bedford, Robbin E. Mazenkas of NY, Rickard J. Nutter and his wife Mary of Raynham, Mark S. Nutter and his longtime companion Barbara Lawrence of Yarmouth Port, and Dorothy A. Chmielinski and her husband John of Norton and was predeceased by her sons Richard Nutter and Ronald Nutter. She was also the Nana to Michelle and Joseph Nutter, Jordan and Craig Chmielinski, Benjamin, David, and Nikki-Lynn Mazenkas, Billie-Jo Calnen, Rickard, Brittany, Mackenzie and Nevaeh Nutter, Branden, Dorothy, Katherine and Danielle Nutter, Brenda and Melissa Rose, and Danielle, Crystal, Alexandrea, and Norman Gomes, and was predeceased by her grandchildren, Jessica Nutter and Georgette Gomes. She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by her brother George C. Patten or DE, sisters Carol (Patten) Large of Stoughton, Donna (Patten) White and was predeceased by her brother Thomas F. Patten.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt and special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice and the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home staff for their compassion, quality care and kindness to Dorothy and her family during her time there.
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Wednesday February 18th from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held the next day Thursday, February 19th at the funeral home at 9:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind at https://support.perkins.org.
