Dorothy L. (Dutra) Pope, 93, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William P. Pope, Sr. Daughter of the late John L. and Eleanor M. (Flood) Dutra, she was born in Boston and raised and educated in East Boston. She resided in Revere for 5 years before living in Stoughton for the past 53 years. Dot worked at Stoughton Laundry Company for several years then at the Foxboro Company for 8 years before retiring in 1985. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and bowling but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Dot is survived by her children, Lorraine M. Emmons of Texarkana, TX and her late husband Charles, William P. Pope, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Braintree, John J. Pope and his wife Rita and David G. Pope and his wife Marianne all of N. Easton and Carol A. Hughes and her husband Leo of N. Quincy. She was the sister of Rose MacDonald and Dennis Dutra both of Revere, Robert Dutra of Medford and the late Eleanor Russo, Adelaide Boyle, John Dutra and William Dutra. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, February 18 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
