Duarte Manuel “Harry” Reis, 70, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Luisa M. (Melo) Reis for 48 years. Son of the late Manuel and Hortense (Bernardo) Reis, he was born and raised on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, Portugal. Harry came to the United States and settled in Somerville at age 14 and graduated from Somerville Trade School before moving to Stoughton in 1984. Harry was a longtime employee at Olympic Adhesives, Inc. in Norwood for 45 years before retiring in 2020, where he still has many colleagues and friends. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, carpentry and building many things, in particular model airplanes and a tree house for his grandchildren. Harry’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his six grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his three children, Benjamin Reis and his wife Genevieve of Norwell, MA, Rachael R. Buzzelli and her husband Mark of Pembroke Pines, FL and Daniel D. Reis and his wife Mary-Kate of North Attleboro, MA as well as his grandchildren, Cecilia, Jimi, Scarlett, Hunter, Emma and William. He was the brother of Cesar Reis, John Reis, Vidalia DiVito and Venilde Reis and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, September 9 from 9-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM.
