Edward J. Colp, 65, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the beloved husband of over 38 years of Andrea J. (Petrie) Colp. Born in Norwood, son of the late John A. “Jack” Colp and Arlene (Grover) Colp Doten, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and attended Stoughton Schools. Ed was a resident of Wareham for the past 34 years. He was a longtime member of Carpenter’s Union Local 40 and later Local 327 in Boston and was a highly gifted and respected carpenter. Ed worked on some of Boston’s most iconic buildings and was frequently selected for the most difficult and specialized work. While in the Union, he was named one of the youngest foremen and was awarded the Golden Hammer Award. For several years, he owned and ran AC Drywall with his wife Andrea and later returned to the Carpenter’s Union to finish out his career working alongside his son John.

Ed was an outdoorsman at heart, he loved riding his bike, going to the beach and golfing with his sons at Little Harbor Golf Course in Wareham. He was fortunate enough to achieve a hole in one during a round of golf. He enjoyed watching the Patriots and the Bruins and loved watching live music, either at a big concert or a small solo show. He enjoyed watching movies, working out and going to amusement parks to ride the roller coasters, but above all, his most cherished times were spent surrounded by his family.

In addition to his wife, Andrea, he is survived by his loving children, Mark E. Colp and his wife Erin of S. Boston, John L. Colp and his wife Marissa of Winthrop, Edward J. Colp and his wife Nina of NH, Michelle P. Colp of Wareham, Craig D. Colp of Bridgewater and David P. Colp of RI. He was predeceased by his son, Edward J. Colp, Jr. Ed was the loving “Papa” of Isaiah, Elise, William and Caroline Colp. He was the brother of John A. “Jack” Colp, Jr. of Brockton, David Colp of CT, Diane Condon and Deborah Sharples, both of Stoughton and is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his pets Ollie, Loki, Jenna and Bailey.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Friday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM.
