Edward DeFelice - A Lifetime of Volunteering

Edward Joseph DeFelice, 82, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. He was the husband of the late Lorraine M. (McKinnon) DeFelice. Son of the late Egidio and Mary (Lepro) DeFelice. He was born in Boston and raised in Stoughton. He is survived by his 2 sons Edward DeFelice Jr. and his wife Dawn (Cruickshank) DeFelice of Taunton, Joel M. DeFelice of Boston’s North End and his sister Nancy (DeFelice) White and husband Robert White of Easton.

Ed was the President of the Honor Society and Valedictorian for the Stoughton High School, Class of 1962. He was also a gifted artist. He created the Stoughton Black Knight symbol for the school football and other sports teams. He earned scholarships from Northeastern University and worked in coop. programs at Beth Israel Hospital and the Fore River Ship Yard. After graduation, he worked at Kodak in Rochester, NY where he became a proficient photographer. He was then recruited by Raytheon where he held various positions. He won awards for cost control engineering with each employer. He later founded his landscape business, Color It Green Landscaping, in 1975 and retired in 2018. During this career, he joined the Associated Landscape Contractors of Massachusetts and served various board positions culminating with a term as President.

He spent decades volunteering for the town he loved, Stoughton. He served in many capacities for the town including a Select Board member, Finance Committee member and as a Town Meeting representative.

He was invited to join the Stoughton Lions Club and served in various boards and committees promoting Lionism and raising funds for various town projects. He loved the summer concert series and was most proud of his tenure as King Lion. He also brought attention to town issues during his tenure as a local access television star. He enjoyed his family, landscaping his yard and sports, especially boxing, Celtics & Patriots.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, September 17 from 4-7 PM followed by Funeral Prayers at 7 PM. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed‘s memory may be made to the Stoughton Lions Club, PO Box 566, Stoughton, MA 02072.
