Emblem

Edward J. Lezynski, 77, of Centerville, MA, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2025, just weeks after the passing of his beloved wife.

Born in London, England, Edward was the son of the late Edward J. Lezynski and his late stepmother, Kitty Lezynski of Braintree, MA. He proudly served his country as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970, when he was honorably discharged. His courage and dedication marked a lifetime of service, both in the military and beyond.

After his military service, Ed built a career as a commercial fisherman aboard the Carole R II, later becoming captain of the vessel for the Ross Family out of the Ocean Street Docks in Hyannis, MA. A natural leader on the water, Ed was respected by fellow fishermen and known for his steady presence and deep knowledge of the sea.

Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Denise J. Lezynski, whom he cared for with unwavering love and devotion through her battle with Alzheimer’s disease. For the last four and a half years of her life, Ed was her sole caregiver—an act of love that defined his quiet strength and loyalty. He himself passed after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

He was a devoted father to Donna L. Hutchins and her wife, Denise Fitzgerald-Hutchins of Brockton, MA; Tamara Schroth and her wife, Kellie Duval-Schroth; and his late son, Edward F. Schroth Jr. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Debra Tosi of Weymouth, MA, and Marilyn Lezynski of Braintree, MA. He is survived by his cherished sister-in-law, Claudia Jasmin of Raynham, MA, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Ed was also deeply attached to his loyal companion, his beloved dog Pinot, who remained by his side through life’s many chapters. He cherished the peaceful winters he and Denise spent in beautiful Marco Island and Hutchinson Island, Florida—places that brought them both joy, warmth, and lasting memories.

An avid reader, Ed had a deep love of books, particularly those about military history and world events. He also leaves behind many close friends, both locally and across the country, who will remember him for his intelligence, kindness, and steadfast spirit.

Edward will be remembered for his strength of character, quiet generosity, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy as a father, husband, veteran, fisherman, and friend will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Canoe Club Ballroom 2 South St, W. Bridgewater, MA from 12-4PM to honor both Ed and Denise. A private burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
