Eileen Patricia (O'Brien) O'Donoghue

Eileen P. (O’Brien) O’Donoghue passed at the age of 66, on February 9th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.  Born in East Orange, NJ to Edmund and Mary O’Brien, she grew up in Stoughton with her sister, Joan Foley, and brother, Michael O’Brien. A graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1975, she furthered her education at Labouré College in Dorchester and Rivier University in NH, studying food and nutrition. She worked in Food Service in several area hospitals for 49 years between MA, CT, NJ, NY, and RI, retiring in September 2021 as the Director of Food Services at Carney Hospital in Boston, MA. Previously, she worked at the New England Baptist Hospital. In 1997, she met the love of her life, John O’Donoghue, they married and two years later they were joined by their beloved son, Edmund O’Donoghue. 

Eileen had a love of food throughout her life. She nurtured the souls of patients, friends, and family with the meals that she would cook. She also loved traveling, even if it was just a day trip. When she went to the beach, she would read her romance novels and every fall she would go apple picking and to the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. At wedding celebrations, she would dance and cry the night away. She especially loved traveling to Ireland to see family.  Eileen loved her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, her beloved cousins, and their spouses, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her husband, John P. O’Donoghue, she is also survived by her son Edmund J. O’Donoghue, both of Stoughton.  She was the sister of Joan M. Foley and her husband Edward of Stoughton and Michael K. O’Brien of NC. 

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday from 4-7 PM.  Funeral Prayers will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 AM.  Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
