Eileen (Texeira) Soares

Eileen (Texeira) Soares, 80, died Sunday morning, June 11, 2023, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of over 59 years of Maurice H. Soares. Born in Stoughton, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Gonsalves) Texeira, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She attended Emmanuel College in Boston and later graduated from Bridgewater State College. Eileen was a resident of Easton since 1961. She worked as the Office Manager for Nangle Consulting in Canton for over 20 years and retired in 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed reading, sewing, brainteasers and the Sunday crossword puzzles. She was a cat lover and a fan of the New England Patriots, but the thing that brought her the most joy was Sunday Dinners with her family and her time spent being surrounded by her beloved family and friends.

In addition to her husband Maurice, Eileen is survived by her children, Daniel M. Soares and his wife Lisa (Melin) Soares of Stoughton, Maura A. Switzer and her late husband Mark and Suzanne M. Turcotte and her husband Charles, all of Norton. She was the sister of Anthony Texeira of Plymouth and Charles Texeira of Mashpee. Eileen was the beloved grandmother of Lauren Shortall and her husband Thomas, Dominic, Charles, Hayden and Max Switzer and Alexander, Caroline and Violette Turcotte. She was the great grandmother of Liana Shortall and was predeceased by her in-laws, Alfonso and Elisa Soares Moura. She is also survived her cat June and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 9:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St., Easton at 11 AM.  Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
