Elizabeth J. “Betty” Gatturna, a resident of Stoughton, age 96, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Gatturna and Elizabeth (Gallivan) Gatturna, and was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. She worked as an inspector for electronics at the Advent International Company, EG & G, Telco and Farrington for several years. Betty was a member of the Egelston Square Committee and enjoyed sewing, painting, and spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her beloved brother John Gatturna of Medway, and her sister-in-law Alice Gatturna of Holbrook, and was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas, David and Robert Gatturna, and her sister Gloria Vanaria. She also leaves behind many devoted nieces and nephews who were very special to her, Michelle Kanash who was a caretaker to her, Stephanie Carrara, Denise Gatturna, Stacey Gatturna, John Gatturna, Johnna Bonavire, Thomas Gatturna, Philip Vanaria, Philip Vespa, Barbara Vespa and the late Janet Bourque and her husband Michael, grand-nephews Nicholas Grover, Thomas Suttill, and Matthew Farnham, and a grand-niece Sarah Evans.
Visitation will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Thursday August 14th from 5-7PM. Funeral Mass will be held the next day, Friday August 15th at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/
