Elizabeth A. (Kelly) Pires, 94, a resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Pires. Daughter of the late John F. and Catherine (Diffly) Kelly, she was born in Boston and raised in Randolph. She was a graduate of Randolph schools and attended Massasoit Community College.
Elizabeth was a high school student at Stetson High in Randolph during World War II. It was at that time that she met her beloved, Joe Pires. They married in 1946. Elizabeth was a longtime resident of Stoughton. She was an office assistant for Dr. Antonellis in Brockton before retiring many years ago. Elizabeth was an accomplished artist, dress maker, and doll maker. She was a member of the Randolph Art Association and always enjoyed creating new pieces. She also enjoyed passing on her art skills to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Joseph A. Pires VI of New Bedford, as well as her grandchildren, Joy Wilmouth of North Andover and Joseph Pires VII of Foxboro. She was the sister of the late Jean Stowe, John F. Kelly, Francis Kelly, Catherine Williams and Josephine Hart. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, January 4 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM.
