Evelyn I. (Goodwin) Samson Ginsberg, 100, died Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late David Ginsberg. Born in Stoughton, daughter of the late Wendell and Pearl (Hayden) Goodwin, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1942. Evie was a longtime resident of Stoughton before moving to West Bridgewater in 2001 and later to Holbrook in 2017. Her first employer was the New England Trust Company in Boston and she left there to work for the Naval Headquarters in Boston during WWII. After raising her family, she worked as an Operations and Customer Service Manager at Merkert Enterprises, a food brokerage firm in Canton for many years. She retired at age 65. After her retirement, Evie returned to school and graduated from Massasoit Community College in 2000 at age 74 with her degree in Travel and Tourism. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Stoughton and was the longtime piano player in Sunday Services at the church. Evie was also active at the Brockton Council on Aging, volunteering at the reception desk and participating in the activities there. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Stoughton and enjoyed her weekly bowling group several years ago. Above all, Evie loved being surrounded by her loving family. 

Evie is survived by her four loving daughters, Linda I. Samson of Braintree and her late partner Bob Devine, Lorraine A. Tierney and her late husband William and Carol J. Lipman and her husband Louis all of Easton, and Cindy J. Samson of Hawaii. She was the sister of Joan Young of NM and the late Walter Goodwin. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 9-10 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evie’s memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Stoughton or the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in Clarksburg, MD.
