Evelyn F. (McDonald) Lynch, 98, died May 26, 2022 at the Beverly Hospital after a short period of failing health. Born in Brockton, MA, she was raised in Stoughton, MA and was a member of the graduating Class of 1942 from Stoughton High School. She was also a 1945 graduate of Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. In August of 1948 she married Robert L. Lynch, Sr. at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, and together they raised four children and enjoyed over 62 years of marriage, before his death in 2010. As spouse to a U.S. Army officer, Evelyn lived in Kingston, MA, Baltimore, MD, Monterey, CA, Augsburg and Stuttgart, Germany, and Anniston, AL. She and her husband resettled in Stoughton MA for 37 years, he as a teacher and she as a nurse, to raise their family. They retired to Mashpee, MA on Cape Cod for the next 30 years. She was a resident of Peabody, MA for the past year and a half.

Evelyn served in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps, a uniformed U.S. Service Corps during WWII and was one of the last surviving members. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years while raising her four children, as a Night Supervisor at Mass General, as operating room nurse at The Winthrop Foundation at Mass Eye & Ear, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, the Brockton Veterans Administration Medical Center, Stoughton Visiting Nurse Association, and Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, MA before embarking on her 20-year career as School Nurse in Stoughton. As School Nurse, Evelyn worked at Stoughton Junior High School and later as the Head Nurse for the Stoughton School System, before her retirement in 1985.

She volunteered for a decade at St. Mary's School of the Immaculate Conception Diocese in Stoughton to do hearing and vision testing for all the students. She was a member of the Military Officers Association of Cape Cod (MOA). Evelyn was a devoted Catholic and former parishioner of Christ the King in Mashpee and Immaculate Conception and St. James Church, both in Stoughton. A talented professional painter who began painting while in Germany under the tutelage of artist Kurt Schmidt, she was known for her landscapes and seascapes and also enjoyed working with stained glass. Her art has been exhibited on Cape Cod at Three Fish & A Ram Art Gallery, The Mashpee Public Library, The Mashpee Historical Museum, and the Maser Gallery where she had her first two-person gallery exhibit at the age of 90 and another at 92 with her granddaughter Lauren. Her work is currently part of a four U.S. artist exhibit at the U.S. Embassy in Guyana. She was an avid reader and would read a book per week until her illness. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family.

Evelyn was the daughter of William James McDonald WWI PH and Katherine (Kitty) Franklin McDonald. She was the mother of Robert L. Lynch, Jr. and his wife Dianne Brace of Mashpee and Washington DC, Roger A. Lynch Esq. and his wife Lindsey Fletcher-Lynch LICSW of Ashfield, Donald J. Lynch PhD and his wife Leslie Lynch CPA of Ipswich, and Sarah-Ann Lynch, U.S. Ambassador to Guyana, and her husband Kevin Healy DDS of Potomac, MD. She was the beloved "Nani" of Molly Fletcher-Lynch, Lauren Lynch, Hilary Spidaliere, Hannah Lynch, Mariah Healy, Garrett Healy, Dylan Healy and the late Ian Fletcher Lynch. She was the great grandmother of Oliver and Eloise Mathison and Ruby Clark. Evelyn was the sister of the late Marjorie Donahue, William McDonald, Charles McDonald and James McDonald. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Visiting Hour will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, June 1st from 9AM to 10AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Evelyn's memory may be made to the American Red Cross.
