Francine S. (Corey) Bevis, age 82, of Stoughton, MA, formerly of Acton, MA and Randolph, MA, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Fran was born November 28, 1942, in Chelsea, MA, to the late Carmella (DeLuca) Corey and Joseph A. Corey. She was one of 7 children, brothers Gary, Sam, George, and the late Joseph Corey and sisters Ann and Carolyn.
Fran resided in Randolph, MA and worked as a lunch lady at the Lyons Elementary School so that she could be a stay at home mom for her 6 children. In her early years, Fran loved camping, hiking, snowmobiling, and spending time at the beach with her family and former husband William Wilbur, Jr. Once her children were grown, Fran worked for Chadwick's of Boston until she retired in 2004, at age 62.
Fran married Curt Bevis on May 2, 1992. They built their life in Stoughton, MA. In this union, Fran gained 3 step-children, Ronnie, Heather, and Brian, with whom she was very fond of.
Fran enjoyed gardening, and took pride in the flower beds that bordered her yards. She loved cooking and baking, a good cup of tea or cocktails with family and friends, and adored her beloved cats. Fran loved dancing and conversing with her family of friends at the VFW of Taunton, often referred to as “The V” by Fran. Fran was an avid follower of The Goat Roper Band and considered them family. She loved Country music and enjoyed attending concerts at the Indian Ranch.
She was a kind, loving, strong-willed, and resilient woman. She was loved by all who knew her. Fran’s love for all creatures was undeniable. She fed the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits. Even in her last days, she was making arrangements to ensure that her wildlife friends would be cared for after her passing.
Fran is survived by her beloved husband, Curt Bevis, of Stoughton, MA, her cherished cat Sasha, her children, Lisa Forman and her husband Barry of West Bridgewater, Shawn Wilbur of Nebraska, Robert Wilbur and his wife Kim of Taunton, Charles Wilbur and his late wife Ann Marcelonis of Abington, Heather Sloan and her husband Kenneth of Whitman, her step-children Rhonda (Ronnie) Bevis of Randolph, Heather Roszkowski and her husband Joe of Georgia, and Brian Bevis of South Carolina. Fran was predeceased by her daughter Dawn Pappas.
Fran is also survived by her siblings, Gary Corey and his wife Donna of Boxborough, George Corey and his wife Laureen of Braintree, Samuel Corey and his wife Terry of Braintree, the late Joseph Corey of Vermont, Ann Curtin of Plymouth, Carolyn Corey of New Hampshire and her special sister Geraldine Kelley of Acton as well as her grandchildren, Marissa and Haley Forman, Anthony, Miranda, and Ezekiel Wilbur, Alexa and Jasmine Wilbur, Charles Marcelonis, Jared Moussalli, Mackenzie Roszkowski and additionally, her former husband William B. Wilbur, Jr., several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a countless number of friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to MJ Pelley, the hospice nurse who showed exceptional compassion and respect to the family at the end of Fran’s life.
Fran was loved by everyone and will be forever missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The date and venue will be announced in the near future. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
