Frederick Harold Shea Jr., 85, a resident of Canton, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, September 7, 2026. He was the husband of Karen M. (Dauphinee) Shea for 62 years. Son of the late Frederick H. “Harry” and Catherine M. (Connolly) Shea, he was born in Boston and raised in Stoughton. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1959, where he was the starting quarterback for the football team. He continued his education and football career at Boston College. Fred was a bus driver for Interstate Coach in Stoughton for 10 years before working for B.A.T. for 21 years until his retirement 15 years ago. He loved singing and music and was active at St. James Church in Stoughton, where he was a member of their church choir for many years.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his children, Frederick H. “Rick” Shea III of Stoughton, Kendra D. Shea of Brockton, James J. Shea of Attleboro Falls and the late Stephen M. Shea as well as his grandchildren, Kayla Ruggiero and Stephen A.M. Simoneau and his great-grandchildren, Gianna and Timothy Byrne. He was the brother of Michael Shea and his wife Rosemary of Middletown, CT, Kathy Welch of Dedham, Paul Shea and his wife Mary of Stoughton and the late Alice Shea. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, September 22 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 11 AM.
