Gene W. McCourt

Gene W. McCourt, age 67, passed away after a brief illness on August 20, 2025. He was the devoted life partner and best friend to Mary P. Laurenson for 27 loving years. Gene was the son of the late John L. McCourt, Jr. and Patricia L. (Henning) McCourt, and was raised and educated in Canton. He was employed at Brother International as a Senior Technician for several years before retiring. Gene enjoyed spending time in Cape Cod and North Carolina, especially the Outer Banks, and liked golfing, going to the beach, and relaxing outdoors.

In addition to his life partner Mary, Gene is survived by his siblings Jack McCourt of Canton, Jeffrey McCourt of Revere, and Carol McCourt of Ipswich. He also leaves behind Mary’s dear son David M. Laurenson who Gene grew close to over the years, and many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Tuesday August 26th from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held the next day, Wednesday August 27th at the funeral home at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church in Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
