George J. Collins died peacefully in his home in Hanover surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Roxbury and was a graduate of Roxbury High. George was a proud veteran of the US Army. He graduated from the Bentley College of Accounting and Finance, was a CPA and successful business owner who enjoyed working with and helping his family, friends and clients until retirement. He was certified by the MA Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s.

George loved spending time with his family, he never missed a Christmas morning with his children and grandchildren, he was a history buff, an avid reader especially of science fiction and fantasy books, loved taking day trips around New England and going on mystery rides with his partner Valerie and seeing his friends. He was a collector of castles, minerals, gemstones, figurines and Thomas Kinkade artwork. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his flowers/plantings and bird watching. George loved Doo-wop music, he owned a zoot suit and blue suede shoes. He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed his French Eclairs and Glazed Jelly Stick.

George was a gentle giant and a true gentleman. His kindness, compassion and unconditional love of his family will be sorely missed.

George was the beloved son of the late George V. Collins (V. FLt. B.F.D.) and Ruth (Foley) Collins, he was the proud father of George A. Collins of Stoughton, Laura A. M. Collins and her husband David Cook of East Bridgewater and the late Sheryl M. Collins. He was the proud Papa of Ashleigh L. M. Wedge and her husband Matthew, Katelyn J. Cornelissen and her partner Jordan White and the proudest Pup to Ryleigh A.M. White. George J. is survived by his brother Edward Collins and his wife Alice of Malden, Richard Collins and his wife Patricia of Foxboro, Beverly Trapeno and her husband Charles of Rockland, Karen Collins of Quincy and his longtime companion Valerie Fletcher of E. Freetown. He is survived by several nieces, nephews including his godson, grandnieces, and grandnephews who he loved and saw frequently.   

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
