George E. Young, Jr., a longtime resident of Westwood, age 87, passed away on August 23, 2024, at Sunrise at Norwood. He was the beloved husband to Lieselotte (Petroll) Young for 65 loving years. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late George E. Young and Dorothy C. (Rowan) Young. He attended Suffolk University earning his Bachelor of Science degree and attended Babson College earning a Master of Business Administration degree and served in the U.S. Army as a Private fourth-class photo interpreter in his younger years. George was an active member of both the Boylston Schul Verein for almost 50 years, and the German Aid Society for 25 years, both out of Walpole, and volunteered his time to the Westwood Finance Commission for many years to assist them. Playing an active role within the organizations, he enjoyed being involved within the community. In his spare time, George loved swimming, photography, traveling, and staying in touch and educated with the German language and culture.

In addition to his wife Lieselotte, George is survived by his children Christopher G. Young and his wife Sandra of Stoughton, Michelle L. Young of Mashpee. He was the brother to Katharine A. Young of Westwood, and the late Thomas F. Young, and leaves behind his granddaughter Kelly-Anne Wanders.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Thursday, August 29th from 3-5 PM, with Family Reflections at 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Guide Dogs for the Blind at https://www.guidedogs.com/ways-to-give/donations.
