Gerald Slawsby, age 82, passed away peacefully at the Ruth McLain Hospice House in Braintree on June 29, 2026. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, he was a graduate of Brockton High School. He later attended college, where he earned an Associate’s Degree. Gerry worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Capitol Markets, a family-owned business established by his great-uncle, and later served as a debt collector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and worked a variety of other jobs throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing and loved traveling, especially to Europe and Bermuda, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and Patriots fan. A faithful member of the Boston Church of Christ in Milton for many years, Gerry was deeply devoted to his faith, family and friends.
Gerry was preceded in death by his brother Mark Slawsby, and leaves behind his cousins Gail Kozol, Steve and Dean Slawsby, and many close friends.
Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Wednesday July 8th from 4-6 PM, with a Funeral Service at 6 PM. A brief graveside service will be held the next day, Thursday July 9th at Temple Beth Emunah Cemetery, 1000 Pearl Street Brockton at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to HOPE Worldwide at https://hopeww.kindful.com/.
