Gloria J. (Sutton) Veale

Gloria J. (Sutton) Veale, 77, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Bobby M. Veale for 56 years. Daughter of the late Barney and Eunice (Rhodes) Sutton, she was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. She resided in Stoughton for 51 years. Gloria was an office manager in the Assessor’s Office for the Town of Stoughton for over 25 years before retiring in 2005. She was a Stoughton Town Meeting Representative for many years. She also volunteered at Salvation Army in Brockton. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling in a league at Westgate Lanes in Brockton. She also enjoyed working out at Elite Fitness in Stoughton. Her greatest joys were cooking for and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by her children, Sonya E. Newman and her husband Lawrence of East Bridgewater and Daryl F. Veale and his fiancé Marisa Stanewick of West Roxbury as well as her grandchildren, Daryl A. Veale Jr. and Hope Newman. She was the sister of Ernest Sutton of France and the late Barney Sutton Jr., Leon Sutton, Charles Sutton and Patricia Sutton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, June 18 from 10-11:30 AM followed by a Service at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria‘s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 (www.cancer.org).
