James K. Cotter

James Keith Cotter, 78, of Stoughton died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the West Roxbury Veterans Medical Center after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of 58 years of Mary T. (Minihan) Cotter.

Born in South Boston, he was the son of the late James P. and Nora (Robinson) Cotter. He grew up in South Boston and was educated in the Catholic and Boston Public Schools. He was a resident of Stoughton for 50 years.

Mr. Cotter worked as a metallurgist for more than 50 years with Lindberg Heat Treating, New England Metallurgical, and continued his career part-time with Industrial Heat Treating in Quincy until 77 years of age. His favorite hobby was camping. James was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War Era from December 10, 1951 until December 2, 1953. He was a member of the Stoughton VFW.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, James P. Cotter of Taunton, Daniel J. Cotter of Easton, and Janice M. Schifone of Stoughton and 10 grandchildren, Alexander, Danielle, Hayley, Eryn, and Jacob Cotter, Christine, Jetta, and James Shifone, Joshua and Ryan Leggette.

In consideration of his wishes, private family services will be held. Donations in his memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, 02368.
