Easton, MA
Jane M. (Burke) Garvin, 85, died peacefully Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham, after a period of declining health. Born in Brockton, she was raised and educated in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1959. She also attended Pierce Secretarial School in Boston. In 1964, she married F. Dexter Garvin and together they shared over sixty years of marriage. In 1970, they moved to Easton where they raised their family. Jane was a longtime Secretary in the Easton School System, working at Oliver Ames High School, Easton Jr. High School and at the Parkview School, retiring many years ago. Jane enjoyed discussing politics and current events, walking, and gardening.
Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She truly loved being a mother and grandmother and treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. From sporting events, dance recitals, babysitting, musical gigs, and everyday moments, she never missed a thing. Nothing made her happier than simply being with her family.
In addition to her husband Dexter Garvin of Easton, she is survived by her children, Colleen Upham and her husband Kurt of Wayland, Jennifer Duvall and her husband Mark of Easton, and Francis D. Garvin, Jr. and his wife Diana of Mansfield. She was the grandmother of Timothy, Abigail, and Emalyn Duvall, Matthew, William, and Kathryn Garvin, and Sydney and Caroline Upham. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sheila Auger of Brockton and Linda Centrella of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews.
