Jean C. (McIver) Mellyn

Jean C. (McIver) Mellyn, 93, died Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the LifeCare Center of West Bridgewater, after a short period of declining health. Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. In 1958, she married Leo E. Mellyn, moved to Stoughton two years later and raised their two sons in Stoughton. Jean was a longtime employee of the Town of Stoughton, beginning as a Teachers Aide at the Gibbons School, worked in the Stoughton Building and Zoning department, and later as the Executive Assistant to the Town Manager. She retired in 1999. Jean was active with the Stoughton Grenadiers and was a member of the Castle Island Association. Jean was a longtime active member of the Old Colony Easton YMCA and loved her water aerobics classes and trips to Dunkin Donuts with her friends after her class. She enjoyed Tuesday lunches with "The Hens", her group of long-time friends. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and her granddaughters.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Stewart E. Mellyn and Scott E. Mellyn and his wife Christine, all of Stoughton. She was the beloved Grandma of Sarah P. Mellyn and Amanda E. Mellyn. She was predeceased by her brother James McIver.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Prayers will be offered in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 11 AM with a burial to follow at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton.
