Jeannette K. (Lunnin) Oakes

Jeannette K. (Lunnin) Oakes, age 77, a longtime resident of Stoughton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 25, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Oakes, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2021. Born and raised in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lunnin and Mary (Boyd) Lunnin. She loved painting, astronomy, and science, and could often be found watching Star Trek, Bob Ross, or the Home Shopping Network. Her curiosity about the world and her appreciation for creativity never faded. Jeannette enjoyed traveling and making memories with her family, especially vacationing in the Florida Keys and New Orleans. She also loved dining out, particularly enjoying trips to Olive Garden and Smokey Bones, where she was known for enjoying her bucket of beer and a good espresso martini. Above all else, Jeannette was the heart and backbone of her family. She taught her grandchildren how to sew, bake, and appreciate the value of homemade meals and time spent together. She took pride in tending to her home, entertaining family and friends and making home cooked meals.

Jeannette is survived by her sons, Richard A. Oakes, Jr. and his wife Wendi of Brockton and Brian E. Oakes and his wife Karen Power of Boston. She was the Nana to Adam, Amy and her husband Dyllan and Jackie and her fiancé Daniel and great-granddaughters Riley and Reagan.
