On August 8, 2022, Jesuino A. Teixeira, also known as Jess, passed away from complications of Multiple Sclerosis and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He was born on October 22, 1939 in Caveira, Flores, Azores, Portugal. He was the beloved husband of 57 years of Maria Teixeira, formerly of Santa Cruz, Flores. He came to America on December 5, 1963. He was the father of five children, Julie Fraga and her husband Manny and Joey Teixeira and his wife Andrea all of Stoughton, Jenny Ventura and her husband Michael of Easton, Jesse Teixeira and his wife Liliana of Warwick, RI and adopted daughter Monica Bevivino and her husband Eric of Mansfield. He was the grandfather of Thomas and Sarah Fraga, Alex Teixeira, Ryan, Joshua and Arianna Ventura, Bruce and Oscar Teixeira, Parker Bevivino and the late Melissa Fraga. He was the son of the late Jose and Maria (Almeida) Teixeira, the second of 10 children. He was the brother of Leonor Santo Cristo, Aurora Teixeira, Rosaria Garcia, Alzira Garcia, Julia Resendes, Jose Teixeira, Joao Teixeira and the late Ida Nunes and Maria Dias and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jesuino was a Portuguese Army Veteran serving in Angola, Africa from 1960-1963. His first job in the United States was making shoes at Joseph Corcoran Shoe. He was a foreman at Morse Shoe for over 20 years and a custodian for Stoughton Public Schools. His favorite job was driving the school bus and seeing the smiles on the children's faces.
For over 13 years Jesuino played the trombone for the Sociedade Filarmonica São João in Stoughton. He was a member of the Azores Holy Ghost Society of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He loved to sing in the church choir and played the guitar for the folklore. He was a former coach for Stoughton Youth Soccer. He also was a joker and loved to make people laugh. He loved to play cards with friends, read the Bible and pray the rosary every day.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, August 13 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
