Joan L. (Forrest) Lodge, 86, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Boston Medical Center in Boston, after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Lodge Sr. Born in Brockton, she was raised in Canton and attended St. John Catholic Schools. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 60 years. Joan was a dedicated wife and mother who wore many hats. She worked as a receptionist at Catholic Charities in Brockton for many years and previously was a longtime school bus driver in Stoughton, Class A Truck Driver, Bartender, Published Author, Oil Painting Artist and Foster Mother. She was a longtime member of the Westgate lanes bowling teams. Joan was the author of 5 books, several of them children’s books. Joan loved nature and spending time outdoors and also enjoyed freshwater fishing. She enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of her cross-country drive across the US many years ago. An animal lover, in her free time, she loved being surrounded by her beloved family and her many animals.
Joan is survived by her children, Donna L. Tripp and husband Peter of Avon, 1st Sgt. Edward A. Lodge, Jr, USMC (Ret.) of FL, Lisa J. Lodge and Danny Lawcewicz of Avon and Michael J. Lodge and Joan Maclear of W. Bridgewater. She was the grandmother of Jaclyn, Peter, Samantha, Eric, Edward III, Kyle, Leilani, Jamison, Trevor and the late Charles F. Schifone, Jr. Great Grandmother to Julian, Anthony, Carmen, Gianna, Violet, Julia and Sadie Mae, and Great Great Grandmother to and Harvey Tripp. She is also survived by sisters Kathleen, Sandy and Debbie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, 153 S. Franklin St., Holbrook on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10 AM with Visitation Time with Joan’s family prior from 9:15-9:45AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
