John Joseph Beaton

John Joseph Beaton, 84, died peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Anne M. (McGlinchey) Beaton for 60 years. Son of the late Florence L. (Walden) Colbert and her husband Thomas Colbert, he was born in Somerville and raised in Mattapan. John was a graduate of Brandeis Technical School in Boston. He resided in Stoughton for 60 years until moving last year to his home in Marstons Mills, where he loved spending summers for 35 years. He was a model builder for the City of Boston for 40 years before retiring at age 64. John enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises and spending time on Martha's Vineyard and at Shubael Pond in Marstons Mills. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and kayaking but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John J. "Jackie" Beaton, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Plymouth, Dana M. Beaton and his wife Annamarie of Mansfield, Stacey A. Kenney and her husband Sean of Easton and Kara L. Rork and her husband Michael of Franklin, as well as his grandchildren, Ryan Beaton, Jack Beaton, Erin Beaton, Alyssa Kenney and Kayla Kenney. He was the brother of the late Thomas Colbert, Jr.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 20 from 4-7 PM. Masks and social distancing required. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a Funeral Mass will be private followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in John's memory may be made for Parkinson's Disease research to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Donation Processing, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
