John J. Eagan, Jr., 76, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at his home in Stoughton, after a long period of declining health. He was the husband of 40 years of Cynthia (Swisshelm) Eagan. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, son of the late John and Helena (Nelson) Eagan, he was raised in Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Ohio. John was a Veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam as a Cryptographer. After his Honorable Discharge, he enjoyed a long career as a Chemical Engineer and worked for a short time at NASA and then at WR Grace in Lexington, and later at Hapco in Holbrook. He retired several years ago. John enjoyed watching science fiction shows and movies and was a fan of Star Trek. He enjoyed working in his yard and enjoyed Karate and Tai Chi. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.

In addition to his wife Cynthia S. (Swisshelm) Eagan of Stoughton, he is survived his son Michael Eagan of NJ and his daughter Deborah J. Taylor of Hyde Park. He was the grandfather of Lexica Taylor and Darielle Eagan. John was the brother of Joanne Nelson and Patricia Eagan both of NY.

A Memorial Service will be held at the BrookMeadow at Cobbs Corner, 2121 Central St., Stoughton at a date to be announced.
