John Edward Ornellas, 75, a longtime resident of Avon, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, February 4, 2021. He was the husband of Carol A. (Medeiros) Ornellas for 50 years. Son of the late Gina M. (Colarusso) Ornellas, he was born and raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1963. John was an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He resided in Avon since 1976. He was a manufacturer's representative and owner of Commonwealth Sales in Avon for 30 years before retiring in 2018. John was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying planes. He was an avid golfer and former member of Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sister, Frances J. Jutras and her husband Ernest of Hanson, as well as 3 nieces and many friends.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services are private with interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the D.A.V. - Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-02301.
